Jewelry Care Guide
Your AK Jewelry pieces are made to be worn every day. A little care keeps the shine and sparkle looking new for years.
General care
- Put jewelry on last, after applying perfume, lotion, and hairspray, so those products don't build up on the metal or settings.
- Take pieces off before swimming, showering, working out, or sleeping. Chlorine and prolonged moisture can dull the finish over time.
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined box so pieces don't scratch each other.
Cleaning your moissanite
Moissanite is extremely hard and holds up well to daily wear. To keep it brilliant: soak the piece for a few minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, gently brush around the stone and setting with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Caring for sterling silver
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish with air exposure over time. Wipe pieces with a dedicated silver polishing cloth to restore shine, and store in an airtight bag or pouch between wears to slow tarnishing.
Caring for gold-filled and plated pieces
Avoid abrasive cloths or ultrasonic cleaners on gold-filled or plated jewelry, as repeated abrasion can wear down the gold layer over time. A soft polishing cloth and occasional gentle soap-and-water clean is all that's needed.
When to remove your jewelry
We recommend removing rings, bracelets, and chains before heavy manual work, gardening, or contact sports to avoid bending prongs or links.
